“So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.”
~ Joshua 10:13

Hi James and Ellen,

Who are your teachers? Is your dad one of your teachers? Is your ma one of your teachers? Is your teacher at your school one of your teachers? Is a life experience one of your teachers? Is God one of your teachers? Do you like being taught? What is something that your dad has taught you? What is something that your ma has taught you? What is something that your teacher has taught you? What is something that a life experience has taught you? What is something that God has taught you? Would you liked to have been Joshua? Joshua was from the Ephraim tribal clan. The Ephraim tribal clan was one of twelve tribal clans that made up the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids. The Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids were God’s specially chosen guys, gals and kids. Joshua was born in Egypt about 3500 years ago. Joseph was Ephraim’s dad. Ephraim was Joseph’s second boy. Joshua’s dad’s name was Nun. When Joshua was born, his dad and ma named him Hoshea. Hoshea means salvation. A couple of months after the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids – God’s specially chosen guys, gals and kids, began their exodus from Egypt to Canaan – the land that God had promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that their extended families would always have to live in as their very own land, Moses made Hoshea his army commander. Moses also changed Hoshea’s name to Joshua. The name that Moses gave to Joshua means Jehovah is salvation. Moses became Joshua’s mentor – or teacher. Moses chose Joshua to guard his tent. When the time came to spy out Canaan – the land where God wanted His specially chosen guys, gals and kids to always to have to live in as their very own land, Joshua represented Ephraim as one of the twelve spies. Moses had asked each Israelite people group tribe clan to choose a guy to represent his tribal clan to spy out Canaan. Joshua and Caleb were the only two of the twelve spies to return from Canaan wanting to go right into Canaan – the land that God was giving to His specially chosen guys, gals and kids to always to have to live in as their very own land. The other ten spies thought it was too big of a risk to go directly into Canaan. Joshua almost got himself stoned to death when he continued contending – after ten spies convinced God’s specially chosen guys, gals and kids that it was not a good idea to go into Canaan, that the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids should go directly into Canaan.

Because the Israelite people group’s guys and gals – God’s specially chosen guys and gals, did not to trust in God to help them take over the land that God was giving to them to always to have to live in as their very own land, God taught His specially chosen guys and gals a lesson. God made His specially chosen guys, gals and kids wander for forty years in a very hot, arid desert. Except for two spies – Joshua and Caleb, every guy and gal who was over twenty years old would die during those forty years. God spared Joshua and Caleb because they had wanted to go into the land that God was giving to His specially chosen guys, gals and kids to always have to live in as their very own land. Joshua witnessed the ten plagues that God afflicted on Egypt’s guys, gals and kids and which ultimately led Egypt’s Pharaoh to finally let God’s specially chosen guys, gals and kids leave Egypt. Joshua had experienced walking through the divided Red Sea with the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids to escape Egypt’s Pharaoh and Pharaoh’s army. Joshua had experienced walking through the divided Jordon River with the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids into Canaan – the land that God was giving to His specially chosen guys and gals to always to have to live in as their very own land. Shortly before God’s specially chosen guys, gals and kids crossed from one side of the Jordon River to the other side of the Jordon River – after God had dammed up the Jordon River leaving a dry riverbed, Moses – God’s appointed leader up to this time of the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids, died leaving Joshua as the designated replacement to lead the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids.

Joshua was tasked to purge every people group of guys, gals and kids from the land that God was giving to His specially chosen guys and gals to always to have to live in as their very own. Joshua and the Israelite people group’s guys and gals – with God’s divine intervention, first saw Jericho destroyed. Joshua and the Israelite people group’s guys were then defeated by guys who were living Ai after an Israelite people group guy – Achan, did something that he had been told not to do which was to take loot from Jericho which he hid. Joshua by Joshua 10, and the Israelite people group’s soldiers had Jerusalem’s king – Adoni-Zedek, asking the kings of four nearby towns to help him to fight against Joshua and the Israelite people group’s soldiers. Joshua had by now gotten it that God was there to help him eradicate the enemy people group’s guys, gals and kids who were living in the land that God was giving to His specially chosen guys and gals to always to have to live in as their very own land. Joshua and his soldiers marched one night to Gibeon where they surprised and routed the Amorite people group’s soldiers. God through plummeting monster hailstones on the Amorite people group’s soldiers killed more soldiers than Joshua and his army killed. God even stopped the sun to give Joshua and his soldiers more time to kill the Amorite people group’s soldiers. Verse 13 says, “So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.” Your grandpaa does not know who wrote the Joshua Book but whoever the Joshua Book author was, the guy knew about Joshua through another book. Another teacher that you have is a book. What is something that the Bible has taught you?
