“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.”
~ Deuteronomy 7:6

Hi James and Ellen,

Do you know what happens when you listen to God? Do you know what happens when you obey God? Do you know what happens when you listen to your dad and/or ma? Do you know what happens when you obey your dad and/or ma? God is pleased with you when you listen to Him. God is pleased with you when you obey Him. Your dad and ma are pleased with you when you listen to them. Your dad and ma are pleased with you when you obey them. Your grandpaa is very sure that there are times when you do not listen to your dad and/or ma. Your grandpaa is also quite sure that there are times when you do not obey your dad and/or ma. Your grandpaa is sure that because you do not always listen to your dad and/or ma that you do not always listen to God either. Your grandpaa is also really quite sure that because you do not always obey your dad and/or ma that you do not always obey God. Why do you think that you do not always listen to your dad and/or ma? Why do you think that there are times when you do not obey your dad and/or ma? Do you think that God is listening when you are not listening to your dad and/or ma? Do you think that God is watching when you are disobeying your dad and/or ma? How do you think that the Israelite people group’s guy and gals felt knowing that God chose them to be His specially chosen guys and gals? Each Israelite people group guy and gal has Jacob as his or her patriarch. Jacob had his name changed by God to Israel. God promised Jacob’s dad – Isaac and Isaac’s dad – Abraham, that He would make their extended families into a great nation. God promised Abraham that where Abraham was living that He would always have Abraham’s extended family have this area of land – which is known today as Israel, to always to have to live in as their own land if . . . Deuteronomy 7 affirms this promise that God made to Abraham which He was having fulfilled by His specially chosen Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kid who had been living in Egypt.

Verse 6 explains why God chose the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids to be His specially chosen guys, gals and kids “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.” The Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids did not do anything to be chosen by God to be His specially chosen guys, gals and kids. God chose the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids before He formed planet Earth to be His specially chosen guys, gals and kids. You did not choose who would be your dad and ma. God before He formed planet Earth chose who would be your dad and ma. Your grandmaa and grandpaa are praying that God before He formed planet Earth chose to elect you to become His adopted kids. A kid who God chose before He formed planet Earth to be one of His adopted kids will personally know God as his or her Heavenly Father. Planet Earth has evil beings inhabiting it who oppose God. God knows who these evil beings are who are squatting on planet Earth – just as God knew who the enemies were who were living in the land area that He was 3500 years ago giving to His specially chosen guys and gals to possess. God promised to help purge the Hittite, Girgashite, Amorite, Canaanite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite guys, gals and kids from the land area that he was returning to the Israelite people group’s guys and gals. God though expected His specially chosen guys and gals to do something for Him as He helped His specially chosen guys rid the guys, gals and kids who were living in the land that He had promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that He would give to their extended families to always to have to live in as their very own land if . . . God did not want His specially chosen guys to show any mercy on any of the guys, gals and kids who were living in the Promised Land. God told His specially chosen guys to completely annihilate the guys, gals and kids who were living in the Promised Land, that they were never to make any kind of agreement with the guys who were already living in the land, that no Israelite dad and ma were to let any of their kids marry a guy or gal who was living in the Promised Land who was not an Israelite guy or gal and that they were to break down the altars, smash the sacred stones, cut down the Asherah poles and burn the idols of the guys and gals who the Israelite people group’s guys were to totally eradicate as they moved into the Promised Land.

God promised His specially chosen guys and gals that He would love and bless them if they listened to His voice and did what He asked them to do. God also promised His specially chosen guys and gals that He would give them more and more kids if they listened to His voice and obeyed Him. God also told His specially chosen guys and gals that if they listened to His voice and obeyed Him that He would bless them with large crops of grain, lots of new wine, plenty of oil and more and more calves and lambs. God also told His specially chosen guys and gals that if they listened to Him and obeyed Him that He would not let them be affected by horrible diseases. Do you think the Israelite people group’s guys and gals listened to what God wanted them to do and obeyed Him or do you think that the Israelite people group’s guys and gals did not to listen to God and disobeyed Him? If about 3500 years ago you were Israelite kids, would you have wanted your dad and ma to listen to God’s voice and obey Him by doing what He had told them to do? When God took His specially chosen guys, gals and kids out of Egypt, God showed His specially chosen guys, gals and kids that He had the power to do whatever He wanted to do at any time. God uses what He did to His specially chosen guys and gals when they did not do what He told them to do, to teach you.
