“and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts”
~ Exodus 31:3

Hi James and Ellen,

What do Sundays mean to you? Do you go to church on Sundays? Do you rest on Sundays? Do you do fun things on Sundays – like going to a zoo? Do you go on Sundays to the house where your ma’s dad and ma live – to eat dinner with your grandpa and grandma? Do you think of Sundays as being the first or the last day of the week? It took God just six days to fill a universe that has no boundaries with stars, suns, moons, galaxies, black holes, novae, comets, meteorites, planets and who knows what else. During the six days that God took to create and to fill the space in His universe – days which your grandpaa thinks may have been much different than the kind of days that now govern when you go to bed at night and when you get up in the morning, God created planet Earth and life. After spending six ‘God days’ creating and jumpstarting life on planet Earth, God rested for a ‘God day’. Why do you think that God rested for a ‘God day’ after He spent six ‘God days’ doing creating? Do you think that God was exhausted after spending six ‘God days’ placing in an ordered way burning globes, reflecting orbs, twinkling dots, flashing lights, exploding and imploding auras and spinning balls in a universe arena that goes by the name of sky? Do you think that God at the end of His six ‘God day’ creation blitz was setting an example for all the guys, gals and kids who He specially chose and elected to become His adopted kids when He rested on the seventh ‘God day’ for them to rest on the seventh day, too? Do you think that God used the seventh ‘God day’ to enjoy everything that He created during His ‘six days’ of fashioning and forming? There is no way for any guy or gal to know when God went into His colossal creating eruption. What God divinely did thousands of years ago when He designed the stage where you are proactively living on and in right now, God wants you to see through His eyes – which you can do by always listening to, reading about, reflecting on and faithfully heeding the mandates or instructions that are found throughout God’s Word – which is now known as the Bible.

God during His time on top of Mount Sinai with Moses used His finger to write on two pieces of stone what would become known as the law or the Ten Commandments. This took place about 3550 years ago. Moses recounts in Exodus 31this moment when God using His finger wrote on two stone tablets the ten life rules how He expected His specially chosen guys and gals to live their lives. God not only wrote with His finger on two pieces of stone the ten life rules how He expected His specially chosen people to live their lives, God specifically told Moses who the guys were who He wanted to take the lead on building a special place for Him where He was to be worshipped. God told Moses to call the special place a Tent of Meeting. God also told Moses that He wanted him to see to the making of an Ark of the Testimony which He wanted placed inside the Tent of Meeting. God told Moses that He wanted the two tablets of stone on which He had written with His finger the laws and commandments that He expected His specially chosen guys and gals to obey to be put in the Ark of the Testimony. How do you think that Bezalel and Oholiab felt when Moses told these two guys that God had specifically picked them to be the guys who He wanted to construct a special worship place for Him? Before God formed planet Earth and everything else that He created, God predestined Bezalel and Oholiab to do what He wanted them to do. Bezalel and Oholiab had no clue what their place was to be in the history of God’s specially chosen guys and gals – the Israelite people group’s guys and gals, before Moses returned after having spent forty days on the top of Mount Sinai talking with God. When Bezalel was born, God had Bezalel’s ma and dad choose a name for their kid that means in the shadow of and in the protection of God. Verse 3 tells this about Bezalel, “and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts—” before Oholiab was born, God had Oholiab’s ma and dad choose a name for their kid that means the Divine Father is my tent and tabernacle. Even though God wanted a place built and items – such as the curtains, furnishings, altars, accessories and garments, made, God did not want Bezalel and Oholiab to do anything on the last day of each week – as it was imperative to God that the last day of each week would always be kept as a rest day. It was so important to God 3550 years ago that the last day of each week be used as a day of rest that He expected guys and gals and maybe even kids to be killed who did not make the last day of each week a rest day.

Sundays about 2000 years ago replaced Saturdays as the one day of rest during the seven day week. Sundays became a celebration day – a day to remember Jesus’ death and resurrection from having been killed – resulting in His death defeating death for all the guys, gals and kids who God specially elected for Himself before He began His creation mission. Your grandpaa believes that every guy and gal must have a ‘Sunday’ in their week – a day when what a guy or gal does for six days is not done. Even though your grandpaa is no longer required by the law of God to keep each Saturday holy and to use each Saturday as a day of rest – or he will be killed, your grandpaa knows that he needs to set aside one day each week to just do downtime, decompress, introspect, reflect, mediate, . . . your grandpaa does not want to say that he does what he says that he knows what is the right thing to do – which is to set aside one day each week to allow his body and his mind to rest but . . . your grandpaa really believes that no guy, gal or kid will ever go wrong when they put God first in everything that he or she does in his or her life. Your grandpaa also really believes that it is very important to meet regularly with guys, gals and kids who are also Christ-followers.
