“As for all the inhabitants of the mountain regions from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, that is, all the Sidonians, I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate this land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have instructed you.”
~ Joshua 13:6
Hi James and Ellen,
Are you a Joshua? A Joshua is a guy who trusts in God. A Joshua is a guy who was mentored by another guy. A Joshua is a spy. A Joshua is a decision maker. A Joshua is a risk taker. A Joshua is a leader of millions of guys, gals and kids. A Joshua is a guy who allocates land by lots. A Joshua is a guy who makes mistakes. Joshua – in Joshua 13, is over ninety years old. This chapter is the first of nine straight chapters of administrative detail that is land allotments by lots specific. The land that Joshua has the responsibility of allotting by lots is the land that God told His specially chosen guys and gals that they would always have to live in as their very own land if . . . Moses had already allotted land that was located on the east side of the Jordon River that had once been lived in by the Midianite people group’s guys, gals and kids to the Gad and Reuben tribal clans and to have half of Manasseh’s tribal clan. God’s specially chosen guys – the Israelite people group’s guys, had overrun and killed the Midianite people group’s guys, gals and kids who were living in Midian. Nine Israelite people group’s tribal clans plus the other half of Manasseh’s tribal clan would be allotted by lots land areas that were located on the west side of the Jordon River. One of the Israelite people group’s tribal clans – the Levi tribal clan, was not allotted any land. God chose the Levi tribal clan to be His designated spiritual overseer for all the Israelite tribal clans. The twelve other Israelite people group’s tribal clans were required to give to their Levi tribal clan descendant bros cities and plots of land from the land areas that had been allotted to them by lots for the Levi tribal clan guys and gals to live in and on and to raise animals and crops. How do you think that the land that God was giving to His specially chosen guys and gals to always have to live in as their very own land if . . . looked like about 3400 years ago before God’s specially chosen guys killed most of the guys, gals and kids who were living in the land? What do you think that it was like about 3400 years ago for the guys, gals and kids who were living in the land that God told His specially chosen guys and gals that they would always have to live in as their very own land if . . . to know for forty years that there were over two million guys, gals and kids plus animals wandering around in an area that was probably no larger than the state of Ohio that was heading for their land area – the land of Canaan. Your grandpaa thinks that when God’s specially chosen guys, gals and kids finally entered the land of Canaan, that the guys, gals and kids who were living in the land of Canaan were in shock and awe at what they were about to experience.
Joshua led the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids – God’s specially chosen guys, gals and kids, through the Jordon River into the land that is located on the west side of the Jordon River – which was the land of Canaan. It was Joshua’s responsibility to see to it that God’s specially chosen guys completely eradicated – by killing them, all the people groups’ guys, gals and kids who were living in the land of Canaan. The land of Canaan had been the home of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were the patriarchs of the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids. Once the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids crossed the Jordan River after God divinely dammed up the water, God’s specially chosen guys spent a good amount of time doing serious fighting to finally take possession of the land that God had told them that they would always have to live in as their very own land if . . . God did do some of the fighting for His specially chosen guys and gals. Verse 6 says, ““As for all the inhabitants of the mountain regions from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, that is, all the Sidonians, I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate this land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have instructed you.” Some areas of the land of Canaan would end up not being overrun and conquered by God’s specially chosen guys – such as the land where the Philistine and Geshurite people groups of guys, gals and kids lived. The Philistine people group’s guys and gals – as Palestinians, are still plaguing the Israelite people group’s guys and gals.
As land areas in the land of Canaan were allotted by lot to the Israelite tribal clans, Joshua carefully recorded each one of the cities in each land area along with the boundaries of each land area that was allotted by lot to each specific Israelite tribal clan. Reading the list of cities that were located in each land area that was allotted by lot to each Israelite tribal clan can be quite tedious. A Joshua is an administrative type. Your grandmaa has taught a good number of times a study on the seven motivation gifts that are in Romans. Your grandmaa’s primary motivational gift is exhortation while her secondary motivational gift is administration. Your grandpaa’s primary motivational gift is administration. Your grandmaa and grandpaa need data in order to make a decision. Do you need data before you make a decision? Do you write down information? Do you like to find out information? Do you like to spend time with other kids? Do you like to encourage other kids to be better kids? Do you like to live routine lives? Do you always like to have change in your lives? Your grandpaa likes challenges. Your grandpaa likes to find answers for felt needs. Your grandpaa is seen as being a risk taker. Your grandmaa could have lived her whole life in just one place – as a wife and ma. Your grandmaa never likes to ‘shake the boat’. Your grandpaa is very thankful that your grandmaa has always been willing to go with your grandpaa to wherever your grandpaa has felt God leading them to go. Your grandpaa is very thankful for your grandmaa’s help in keeping him from getting too far ‘outside the box’. Your grandpaa is very thankful for how God has hardwired him and your grandmaa to be able to best serve Him.
