“When anyone is found guilty of any of these ways, he must confess in what he has sinned”
~ Leviticus 5:5
Hi James and Ellen,
Have you deliberately sinned? A sin is an illegal, immoral and/or dishonest act. Have you done something that has been governmentally mandated or is ethically or morally understood to be illegal, immoral and/or dishonest? Do you think that it is a sin to drive a car faster than the speed limit that is posted on streets, roads and highways? State governments set speed limits. When a guy or gal drives a car faster than a posted speed, the guy or gal is breaking a law. Do you think that it is a sin to watch a movie that has crude, blasphemous words in it? The Bible mandates that the words that come out of the mouth of guy, gal or kid are to be wholesome, upright words. When a guy, gal or kid hears vulgar, sacrilegious words, these words will attach themselves to his or her innately, inherently deceitful heart. Do you think that it is a sin for a guy, gal or kid to overtly overstate or openly understate something in order to paint a better or worse picture of himself, herself or another guy, gal or kid? A trust mandate is to live out total transparent honesty. When a guy, gal or kid stretches truth in any direction, truth will invariably become more and more elusive to find. The sin spirit has been tasked to pollute the heart of a guy, gal and kid. The sin spirit has been charged with tricking guys, gals and kids into compromising their obedience to God’s words, laws and always doing what is the right thing to do. All guys, gals and kids are born with a sin DNA. All guys, gals and kids are having the sin spirit work overtime to wreck or destroy testimonies that reflects God, honors government, and accepts self. The sin spirit wins when a guy, gal or kid opts to disobey an edict that was mandated by Divine authority, contravene a law that was implemented by elected authorities and reject his or her life that was hardwired by the soul implanter.
Have you ever sinned without knowing that you have sinned? Have you ever sinned by not doing something that you knew that you should do? God knew that these kinds of sin incursions were going to take place in the lives of His specially chosen guys and gals – the Israelite people group guys and gals. God – on Mount Sinai, went over these life missteps with Moses. Moses – in Leviticus 5, scribed about four inadvertent sin blunders or involuntary sins. An Israelite people group guy would be held responsible for his actions if he did not speak up to testify about what he knew about a publicly charged sin. An Israelite people group guy would become ceremonially unclean and guilty of sin if he accidentally touched – sometimes without even knowing that he has done it, the carcass of an unclean wild animal, an unclean livestock or an unclean creature that crawled on the ground. An Israelite people group guy would become ceremonially unclean and guilty of sin if he touched – at times without knowing that he had done it, human discharge. An Israelite people group guy would be guilty – whether he did what he did with good or bad intentions or without knowing that he had done it, for thoughtlessly and rashly making an oath. It was not the end of the world for an Israelite people group guy who about 2450 years ago inadvertently or accidentally sinned. God passed on steps through Moses for an Israelite people group guy to be atoned for and be forgiven for his guilt. The first step that an Israelite people group guy had to do is found in verse 5, ““‘When anyone is found guilty of any of these ways, he must confess in what he has sinned” The second step that an Israelite people group guy had to do was to bring to the priest a female lamb or female goat as a sin offering – which the priest would sacrifice on an altar to atone for the guy’s sin. If the Israelite people group guy did not have a female lamb or female goat and if the guy could not afford to buy a female lamb or female goat to use as a sin offering, the guy could bring to the priest two doves or two young pigeons – which the priest would sacrifice on an altar to atone for the guy’s sin. If the Israelite people group guy did not have two doves or two pigeons and the guy could not afford to buy two doves or two pigeons to use as a sin offering, the guy could bring to the priest a tenth of an ephah of fine flour – which would be about three and a half pounds – which the priest would burn on the altar to atone for the guy’s sins. God expected His specially chosen guys to always make restitution for any intentional sin volition and unintentional sin violation that they made. If an Israelite people group guy’s unpremeditated sin breach had to do with desecrating one of the tabernacle’s holy items, the guy had to include an additional twenty percent in hard coins to the value of whatever it was that he brought to the priest to be sacrificed as his sin offering.
Are you glad that you do not have to go through all this sacrificing rigmarole today to have your committed and omitted sins forgiven by God? Your grandpaa sure is. Your grandpaa often drives over the speed limit. Your grandpaa knows that he has said and still thinks words that are coarse and profane. Your grandpaa knows that he sometimes looks for ways to rationalize his inappropriate attitudes and actions. Even though your grandpaa knows that God expects your grandpa to ask Him forgiveness for his sins, your grandpaa is very thankful today that every one of his past, present and future sins were atoned for by God – as God the Son, when He permitted Himself to be inhumanly hung on and nailed to a cross so that your grandpaa’s sins could by covered and atoned by His blood.
