Have you ever seen an angel? What do you think an angel looks like? God’s specially chosen guys and gals at one time seemed to have had a fixation on angels. The Hebrews Book writer – in Hebrews 1, begins his letter that was breathed on him by God – as God the Spirit, to scribe, by explaining to the guys and gals who would read his letter what God – as God the Son, did, what God – as God the Spirit, is doing and what angels are and what angels are doing. God appointed Himself – as God the Son, to be the sole heir of His estate – which is everything. God established the universe for Himself – as God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. The same radiance that can be seen in the glory of God – as God the Father, can be seen in God – as God the Son. God – as God the Son, is Who sustains all things so that there is a continuous unfolding order to anything and everything that has, is and will take place anywhere and everywhere. God – as God the Son, has provided guys, gals and kids redemption and purification from their sins by what He did when he suffered and died on a cross. God – as God the Son, is now sitting in heaven – at the right hand of God – as God the Father, where He is ruling with God – as God the Father, over all things. God – as God the Son, is an equal player in the deity that also includes God – as God the Father, and God – as God the Spirit.
Angels are not deity. Angels are beings. Angels are not immortal. God – as God the Son, is incomparably different than angels. Angels may have been receiving a special dispensation at the time that the Hebrews Book writer scribed his letter by being ascribed by God’s specially chosen guys and gals to be exalted, revered beings. Angels are ministering spirits for God – as God the Father. As agents for God – as God the Father, angels can be the winds of storm and lightening. Verse 14 says, “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” There is a belief that every guy, gal and kid who God – as God the Father, specially elected for Himself before He ever created the universe – which includes planet Earth, has a guardian angel. There is a belief that angels can take on a physical appearance of a guy, gal or kid. There are claims that a being – that gets called an angel, has appeared out of nowhere to help in a life threatening situation and then has disappeared just as suddenly as it has appeared – leaving no trace of ever having existed. It was important to the Hebrews Book author to explain right away and very clearly in his letter that angels and God – as God the Son, are not and never will be on the same page. The Hebrews Book author emphasizes that angels can never ever be compared to God – as God the Son, because angels had been clearly commanded by God – as God the Father, to proclaim the absolute superiority that is in God – as God the Son, by expressly worshipping Him – as God the Son – Who is the firstborn of all creation.
If angels are for real, how do you think that angels manifest or reveal their presence to kids like you? Your grandpaa believes that there is a spirit world that is made up of good and evil spirits. Your grandpaa believes that there are good and evil angels. Your grandpaa does not know if he has ever had an angel interact in one way or another with him but . . . during a trip that your grandpaa was on in Bolivia – that had your grandpaa spending a night in Zapocó, your grandpaa was suddenly awakened by an awareness that . . . the next moment, there was a thundering, rumbling noise right under your grandpaa’s head. Zapocó is an Ayoré reservation for Ayoreo guys, gals and kids. Ayoreos are indigenous guys, gals and kids who live primitively. Your grandpaa had flown into Zapocó in a Cessna with two other guys – Raúl Pedraza and Zacarías Antello, on the day of the night that your grandpaa was abruptly awakened from a sound sleep. Raúl Pedraza and Zacarías Antello were leaders of the church association that is affiliated with South American Mission – which was the mission that your grandmaa and grandpaa were missionaries with when they were in Bolivia, called A.I.E.O (Asociación de las Iglesias Evangélicas del Oriente). Your grandpaa was sleeping on a cement floor – on his air mattress, the night when your grandpaa suddenly sensed something and then heard a thundering, rumbling noise right under his head. Your grandpaa immediately got off his air mattress and yelled – which woke up the other two guys who were sleeping in the same small room where your grandpaa was sleeping – which was at the back of the church that is in Zapocó. After your grandpaa found his flashlight, he flipped over his air mattress. A centipede that your grandpaa calls an eleven and a half inch centipede had crawled under his air mattress. This species of centipede is black, is as thick as your dad’s ring finger and its bite is purportedly very painful. The centipede had crawled between and under the pillow area of the air mattress that your grandpaa was sleeping on – causing the loud thundering, rumbling noise right under your grandpaa’s head. When your grandpaa turned on his flashlight to find out what had caused the noise that had really freaked him out, your grandpaa found a cat sitting just a few feet away from where your grandpaa had been sleeping. Your grandpaa thinks that the cat may have been messing with the centipede – that in a way God used the cat – like an angel, to alert your grandpaa of a dangerous centipede. What intrigues your grandpaa the most about the cat is that he had not seen the cat before the moment that he saw the cat looking at him like ‘aren’t you going to thank me for waking you up”? The small room where your grandpaa, Raúl and Zacarías were sleeping in in Zapocó was windowless. Do you believe that there are doings happening around you now that you cannot see? Your grandpaa believes that there are.
