“He too walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him in doing wrong.”
~ 2 Chronicles 22:3
Hi James and Ellen,
Are you glad that you are living right now on planet Earth? Do you ever wish that you could have lived on planet Earth at another time? Do you at times wish that you could have lived on planet Earth when where you are now living in Newark, Delaware first began to be inhabited? Do you at times wish that you could have lived on planet Earth a thousand years or so before God completely covered planet Earth with water? Do you at times wish that you could have lived on planet Earth during the 800 years between about 1400 B.C. to 586 B.C. when and with God’s specially chosen group guys, gals and kids – the Israelite people group guys, gals and kids, as they were living in the land area called Canaan – the land area that God gave them to always to have to live in as their very own land if . . . ever since the fateful moment when Adam listened to Eve – after Eve told Adam that she had been told by a serpent that it would be a great benefit to them if they ate a fruit that God had adamantly forbidden Adam not to eat, planet Earth has been in convulsive turmoil. There has not been a period of time since Adam acquiesced to Eve that planet Earth has not suffered ill-fated consequences from Adam’s abject disobedience. Ever since Adam went along with Eve’s misdirected belief that it was fine for them to eat the fruit that God had put off limits for them to eat, planet Earth has been saturated with the blood of guys, gals, and kids killed by jealous family members, angry neighbors, impulsive murderers and power hungry despots. Since Adam yielded to Eve’s urging to take a bite out of the fruit that God had told him to never ever, ever, ever, ever eat, God has totally blanketed planet Earth with water, God surfaced a people group – the Israelite people group guys and gals, to be His specially chosen guys and gals and God – as Himself as God the Son, redeemed His specially elected guys, gals and kids for Himself so that they will have the privilege of joining Him one day for an eternity in heaven – where they will want to do nothing more than to spend all of their time – in ecstatic thanks, singing praises to Him for having them be in His glorious presence.
Your grandpaa at times wishes that he could have lived on planet Earth at another time. A time when your grandpaa is very glad that God did not have him living on planet Earth is about 2850 years ago. Athaliah had by default become the ruler over the guys and gals who were living in Judah’s land area. Athaliah’s kid Ahaziah – who had reigned for just a year over God’s specially chosen guys and gals who were living in Judah’s land area and in the city of Jerusalem, had been killed by Jehu – who was at the time the king who was reigning over God’s specially chosen guys and gals who were living in Israel’s land area. Athaliah grew up in a home that was very dysfunctional. Athaliah’s dad and ma were Ahab and Jezebel. Ahab reigned as king for twenty-two years over the guys and gals who were living in the northern kingdom or Israel. Athaliah’s grandpa was Omri. Omri reigned for twelve years as the sixth king over the guys and gals who lived in the northern kingdom or Israel. Omri – who was an unscrupulous guy, created a growing dynasty. One of the ways that Omri created his dynasty was by having his kids marry a guy or gal who was perceived as being an important guy or gal in another nation or country of guys and gals. One of Omri’s kids – Ahab, married Jezebel – who was a princess in the city of Tyre. By the end of Ahab’s reign as king over the guys and gals who were living in the northern kingdom or Israel, Ahab – Athaliah’s dad, had become the wickedest guy to ever reign as king over God’s specially chosen guys and gals who were living in the northern kingdom or Israel and any king who ever reigned over the guys and gals were living in the southern kingdom of Israel – which was Judah. Ahab let himself be influenced by his very evil wife – Jezebel. Athaliah seems to have been very much like her ma Jezebel in how misguided, manipulative and maniacal that Athaliah became. When the chronicler recorded the life stories of Judah’s rulers, he did not seem to want to give Athaliah any space in what became the second Chronicles Book. 2 Chronicles 22 has the chronicler’s summation of Athaliah’s kid Ahaziah’s one year as a Judah king and Athaliah’s six years as the only gal who reigned over God specially chosen guy and gals who were living in the land area of Judah. Verse 3 sums up what kind of ma Athaliah was for Ahaziah, “He too walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him in doing wrong.” After Ahaziah was killed, Athaliah decided to kill all the guys who was a member of Judah’s royal family. Ahaziah’s sis – Jehosheba, was able to hide for six years in the temple of God one of the royal family kids – Joash, from Athaliah. This hideously ugly short period of time was precipitated by a very mean, malicious gal – Athaliah, when her dad’s advisors counseled her kid – Ahaziah, to join with the king – who was Joram, who was reigning over the guys and gals who were living in the land area of Judah who was another one of Ahab’s kids and a bro of Athaliah, to continue the war that her grandpa Omri had started against Aramean guys and gals – who were being led by their king Hazael. The Aramean nation of guys and gals when Athaliah was alive is Syria today. The fight that Omri perpetuated is still going on.
Misguided, manipulative and maniacal actions of one guy or gal will change social and political climates on planet Earth. Bolivia and Guatemala put up with civil unrest and social upheavals for years before your grandmaa and grandpaa arrived in these countries. These countries had their governments replaced by revolutionary coups composed of military guys who thought that they could run their countries better than who was elected. Terrorist groups today are utilizing the global stage to propagate descension, disorder and death throughout planet Earth.
