“But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might to declare to Jacob his transgressions, to Israel his sin.”
~ Micah 3:8

Hi James and Ellen,

Have you ever predicted that something was going to happen – and it happened? Have you ever predicted that it is going to rain – and it rained? Have you ever predicted that a team is going to win – and the team won? Have you ever predicted that something bad is going to happen to a guy, gal or kid – and something bad happened to him or her? Micah was an outspoken spokesman for God. Micah grew up in the southern region of Judah’s land area. Micah – through the prompting of God – as God the Spirit, predicted the future of his people group’s guys and gals. Micah’s people group’s guys and gals were God’s specially chosen guys and gals – the Israelite people group guys and gals. Micah predicted that the rampant social wickedness that his people group’s guys and gals were involved in would have God leveling on them real soon. Micah championed religious reforms among his people group’s guys and gals. Micah spoke against disgraceful social activities that were seriously affecting communities of guys and gals who were living in Judah’s land area. God – as God the Spirit, had Micah scribe unambiguous warnings telling His specially chosen guys and gals that they needed to change what they were doing – that they had made Him very unhappy with them. Micah 3 has Micah telling the leaders of God’s specially chosen guys and gals that justice for them is right around the corner. The leaders among God’s specially chosen guys and gals who were living in the land of Jacob – which is the land that God gave to His specially chosen guys and gals to always to have to live in as their very own land if . . . some of which became Judah’s land area, had a thing about wanting to do evil versus doing good. The leaders in Judah’s land area were brutal types. God’s specially chosen guys and gals who were living in Judah’s land area were figuratively having the brutal leaders in Judah’s land area tearing their skin off of them, ripping their flesh off their bones, eating their flesh, breaking their bones and chopping them up like stewpot meat. Even though this was not literally happening when Micah scribed his Micah Book, it probably really felt like it was happening. Micah did predict that Israel’s land area would be overrun by an enemy nation – and it happened in Micah’s lifetime. Micah is predicting now that the same fate will happen to Judah’s land area – which did happen about 100 years after Micah predicted that it would happen. The predictions that Micah scribed in his Micah Book were predictions that were given to him by God – as God the Spirit. Micah told God’s specially chosen guys and gals who were living in Judah’s land area that there was going to come a day when they would no longer be given visions during the night, that they would no longer be able to participate in divinations in the darkness, that the sun would go dark so that the prophets could not do their thing and that the day would become a pitch black day. This imminent ominous day would make the seers feel ashamed and the diviners feel disgraced. This pending gloom filled day would put an end to false prophets who were nice to God’s specially chosen guys and gals who would feed them but who were nasty to God’s specially chosen guys and gals who would not feed them.

To pull a Micah is to predict what is going to happen – and to have it happen. Another way to pull a Micah is what verse 8 says, “But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might to declare to Jacob his transgressions, to Israel his sin.” Micah did not hesitate at all to tell the guys and gals who were living in Judah’s land area that their way of living their lives was not God-glorifying and that because they were not living God-glorifying lives, that they were really pushing God’s hot button – which when it is pushed all the way down that God’s wrath would be wracked on them in ways that they could not ever imagine. Your grandpaa thinks that today that God – as God the Father, is giving countries and people groups of guys, gals and kids the opportunity to become in mass Christ-followers. Before your grandmaa and grandpaa moved to Guatemala – where they lived for seven and a half years, Guatemalan guys had been caught up for years in a civil war. The tensions between the indigenous Mayan tribal clans of guys and the non-indigenous guys who lived in Guatemala was one of the main drivers for the continual conflict that caused the death in communities throughout Guatemala of literally thousands of guys, gals and kids – most of the deaths being indigenous Mayan guys, gals and kids. The guys in indigenous Mayan tribal clans – who were the primary agitators during the civil unrest in Guatemala, had the support of some local priests and evangelical Presbyterian regional church leaders. A disastrous earthquake in 1976 – that shook most of Guatemala, killed around 30,000 guys, gals and kids. Evangelical churches in the United States immediately responded with the needed help that the injured and displaced guys, gals and kids needed. Catholic churches in the United States did not respond nearly as quickly. The combination of an ongoing civil conflict – that was taking place before the killer earthquake, with some Catholic priests siding with the rebels – resulting at times a priest being killed as well as some of the indigenous guys who attended the priest’s church being killed, and along with the slow response of the Catholic churches in the United States to the earthquake had many Guatemalan guys, gals and kids deciding to stop being Catholic church adherents to join guys, gals and kids in Christ-follower fellowships.

Before the horrendous natural disaster in 1976 and before the beginning of the civil conflict that went on for years in Guatemala, indigenous Mayan tribal clan guys, gals and kids gave offerings to lifeless idol gods. What do you predict will happen if a country or a people group of guys and gals do not listen to a wakeup call from God?
