“Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”
~ Psalm 100:3

Hi James and Ellen,

Do you know that you can be sheep? Do you want to be sheep? Sheep need a guy or gal to take care of them or they will walk right off a cliff. Sheep do not pay attention to where they are going while they are looking for grass to eat. Sheep need a guy or gal to take care of them or a wild animal will eat them. Sheep cannot defend themselves against a sheep eating animal. Sheep need a guy or gal to lead them to where there is water. Sheep do not remember where their home is let alone remember where a shepherd has taken them to drink water. Sheep will easily get lost. When a Psalmist scribed the psalm song that became Psalm 100, the Psalmist had sheep on his mind. Your grandpaa thinks that David is who scribed this psalm song. David when he was a kid had to shepherd his dad’s sheep. David had a personal knowledge of what it was like to shepherd dumb sheep. During the time that he shepherded his dad’s sheep, David with his bare hands killed a lion and then a bear that wanted to snack on sheep from his dad’s flock. Your grandpaa thinks that sheep are smelly. Sheep are bleaters. David called himself a sheep. Are you a sheep?

When a guy, gal or kid makes a decision of faith believing in what God – as God the Son – Jesus, did for him or her when He suffered and died on a cross, the guy, gal or kid will look to God – as God the Father, as his or her shepherd. When Jesus let His blood pour out from His body while tied and nailed to the cross, Jesus’ blood purged from the lives of every guy, gal and kid all the sins that they have made and will make who have and will believe in what He did for them. Jesus’ suffering that led to His death on the cross and then Jesus’ miraculous resurrection from the dead defeated the scary unknown of death while at the same time giving hope and the gift of eternal life to every guy, gal and kid who is led by God – as God the Spirit, to believe in what He did for them. If a guy, gal or kid has made a decision of faith believing in what God – as God the Son, did for him or her on a cross, he or she will understand beyond a doubt what the psalm song writer scribed in verse 3, “Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” When a guy, gal or kid makes the decision of faith to believe in what God – as God the Son, did for him or her, he or she will want to let Jesus be his or her shepherd. The guy, gal or kid will realize that there are all kinds of temptation enemies trying to make him or her compromise and/or destroy his or her faith in Jesus and that only God – as God the Father, knows what the sovereign plan is that He has for each guy, gal and kid which He is divinely unfolding in a perfectly choreographed way every single nanosecond of every single day. It is good to be Triune God sheep. A Triune God sheep means that the Triune God is always caring for, protecting and leading you. Are you Triune God sheep?

If you are the Triune God’s sheep, your grateful and thankful feelings have you internally shouting for joy and vocally singing praise songs to the Triune God – because you know what God – as God the Son, did for you. If you are the Triune God’s sheep, you are sensing in your lives God’s love, grace and faithfulness. Your grandmaa and grandpaa have sensed God’s love, grace and faithfulness in their lives ever since the first day that they met. Your grandmaa and grandpaa know that the chance of their meeting each other and then their getting to know each other belies or disproves coincidence. Your grandmaa and grandpaa know that their meeting each other that led to their getting married had to have been God ordained or it would never have happened. Your grandmaa and grandpaa grew up in places that are over 1200 miles apart. Your grandmaa lived in the metropolitan city of Wilmington, Delaware while your grandpaa lived on a farm near Volga, South Dakota. Your grandpaa deciding to go to Dordt College made sense as Dordt College was started in Sioux Center, Iowa by the Christian Reformed Church denomination. During the years that your grandpaa was growing up on a 160 acre farm that is located one mile west and two miles north of Volga, your grandpaa went with his dad and ma to the Christian Reformed Church that is in Volga. Your grandpaa went from the second grade through the eighth grade in the four room Christian School building that was built in Volga by the Christian Reformed Church. During the years that your grandmaa was growing up in urban Wilmington, your grandmaa went with her dad and ma to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church that is in Wilmington. When your grandmaa was close to graduating from P.S. Dupont High School in Wilmington, your grandmaa’s ma met with Rev. Bob Eckardt – who was the pastor of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church that is in Wilmington, to talk to Rev. Eckardt about what college would be a good college for your grandmaa to go to after she graduated from high school. Rev. Eckardt recommended Dordt College to your grandmaa’s ma as a good college for your grandmaa to go to after she graduated from high school. Even though your grandmaa’s classmates voted your grandmaa to be the shyest gal in their class – which had over 300 students in it, and she was still seventeen years old when she arrived at Dordt College, your grandmaa was okay with going to a college that was over 1000 miles away from the home where her dad, ma, bro and two sisters were living. Your grandmaa ended up rooming in house that is in Sioux Center – that was used as a dorm, with sixteen other gals including your grandpaa’s sister Eileen. After your dad’s Aunt Eileen and your grandmaa got to know each other, your dad’s Aunt Eileen invited your grandmaa to go to her home – which was over two hours away, for a weekend which . . . your grandpaa knows that your grandmaa is the perfect life partner for him. Your grandpaa is very thankful that he is a sheep who is being guided by God’s will.
