Hi James and Ellen,
Do you think that there is a lot of evil happening all over planet Earth? Do you think that there are evil guys, gals and kids living all over planet Earth? Do you think that devastating things happen to good guys, gals and kids and good things happen to evil guys, gals and kids? Who do you trust to take care of you? Do you trust your dad to take care of you? Do you trust God to take care of you? David was a psalm songwriter who penned the majority of the Psalm Book’s psalm songs. David knew what it was like to live on planet Earth with evil all around him. David with just a pebble killed a literal giant who was going around cursing the God of the Israelite people group’s guys, gals and kids. Do you think that God is okay with a guy, gal or kid acquiescing to all the evil that is around him or her on planet Earth – and to let himself or herself to become immersed in this evil, or do you think that God wants guys, gals and kids to crawl under the shadow of His wings – just as little chicks crawl under their ma hen’s wings, for protection from any and all kinds of evil that is around them? A psalm song that David penned – Psalm 36, was written to be sung as part of a morning prayer. When you begin to wake up in the morning, what do you think about as you are still lying in bed? Do you think about all the things that you are going to do during the day? Do you think about a test that you having to take at school? Do you think about what you would like to eat for breakfast? Do you think about thanking God for the night’s rest that you just had? Do you think about what you are going to do about all the evil that will be confronting you all through the day?
There are evil guys, gals and kids all around planet Earth who are committed to make every other guy, gal and kid who is living on planet Earth to be as evil as they are. God is permitting planet Earth to be the playground for a fallen angel. The fallen angel – whose name is Lucifer, had gotten to where his pride had him foolishly thinking that he could be equal with God. Lucifer has other names – such as Satan. Satan can only do what God permits him to do to influence guys, gals and kids to be evil. Satan has angels who fell with him and a collection of evil spirits acting as minions and toadies to help him get guys, gals and kids to be evil. Your grandpaa knows that you are being constantly tempted to be evil. How often to you sass your dad and/or ma? How often do you do something that your dad and/or ma had told you not to do? How often do you whine, cry or fuss until your dad and/or ma does what you want your dad and/or ma to do for you? Have you ever said something nasty to another kid? Have you ever bragged about what you have done? Have you ever taken something that was not yours? Have you ever said a word that slanders the name of God? As you learn about David’s life, you will find that David sometimes let evil compromise his relationship with his Father God. As you learn about David’s life, you will find that David became known as a man of God because he invariably put his relationship with his Father God before everything else. God did give David a couple of wakeup calls after David proved his inherited, embedded carnal nature that resulted from Adam introducing evil on planet Earth but once David woke up to his evil, David would plead with his Father God to let him back under the shadow of His protecting wings – and God would open His wings again to protect David.
Every guy, gal and kid who has lived, is living and will live on planet Earth has faced, is facing and will face daily danger from evil guys, gals and kids. There are evil guys and gals today who want to do no more than to bask in the power, prestige and positon of being the top dog over all the guys and gals who are around them. There are evil guys and gals today who want to do no more than to have what other guys and gals have so that they can have these gals and guys have to use for vices such as drugs, alcohol, and gambling that they have succumbed to through Satan’s God permitted influence. Satan’s evil army of guys and gals who are always living on planet Earth perceive themselves better than other guys or gals who are living on planet Earth. Satan’s evil army of guys and gals who are always living on planet Earth can never have their evil satisfied. Satan’s evil army of guys and gals who are always living on planet Earth cannot tolerate being around any guy or gal who God has specially elected for Himself before He created planet Earth and who has made a decision of faith to believe in what He did as God the Son when He suffered and died so that His specially elected guys, gals and kids can look forward to the moment when they cross through death’s door into heaven to eternally be with Him. What do you think God’s love is like for the guys, gals and kids who He specially elected for Himself before He created planet Earth? David knew about God’s unqualified love. David wrote in verse 7 “How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.” Where your grandmaa and grandpaa are living right now – which is in Guatemala, is a scary place to live these days. Your grandmaa and grandpaa are not scared of something bad happening to them; your grandmaa and grandpaa just cannot believe though how many evil acts can happen in a country where about one out of every four guys and gals who are living in Guatemala have made a decision of faith when they accepted through faith what God the Son unconditionally did on a cross for them. Do you sense all the evil that is all around you? Are you joining in on all the evil that is all around you? Are you huddling under the shadow of God’s wings from all the evil that is around you? Your grandmaa and grandpaa pray that you will never stop trusting God to take care of you.
